Martineau Centre Faces New Threat

The Martineau Environmental Education Centre once again faces an uncertain future just as things were starting to look rosy. The word is out, the Landlords have entered into negotiations with a substantial charity who would like to buy the land for development. This seems to solve the mystery as to why the Landlords would not permit the Martineau Centre to sign any kind of lease for the use of the land - they appear to be using all the good will and hard work that has gone into keeping it open as unpaid caretakers for the place until they get a better offer elsewhere.

The Martineau Centre has provided a haven for wildlife in the heart of Birmingham for many years. It is a unique place, away from the noise of traffic where children and their parents can go to enjoy and learn about nature.

Steps must be taken to ensure that the Martineau Centre doesn't undergo a fundamental change in the very near future.
