Birmingham Friends of the Earth Action Briefing Dec 98/Jan 99 |
Yes, it's with sad regret I'll shortly be turning in my floppy discs. A new job means that early in the New Year I'm moving to Nottingham, so watch out Nottingham FOE- there's a new recruit on his way..! Though it can be a demanding role it's really not that bad and easy to fit in around an outside life and a 9 to 5 job. If you've got some basic keyboard skills and know which way round to insert a floppy disc then the rest is easy to pick up. Contact me via Reception if you'd like to know more about what's involved.
I'm looking forward to seeing the innovations that 1999 will bring for Birmingham FOE- it's going to be an exciting year. Everyone is fuelled up after our annual Strategy Day in November and there's a lot of creative energy going around. The fact that we've got a bumper 16 page issue of Action Briefing gives you some idea of everyone's enthusiasm. I know this is a regular call, but why not get involved?
If you're not able to make our Monday meetings, why not take part in your local Ward Committee meetings and 'LILAs' (see feature below). These really are good ways to influence the quality of life in Birmingham and your local area.
Our Beer & Brains night on November 12th was well attended and raised £40. You'll be pleased to hear that there's another on January 28th- see the Diary for details. Thanks everyone who came- look forward to seeing you in January.
Finally, I'd like to say that I will be sad to leave Birmingham FOE as an active member. I'm proud to have been a part of this group for four years and I look forward to seeing its continued growth in the future.
Thank you everyone, see you in the pub..!
