Seven miles of the Cole Valley (from Coventry Road in Small Heath to the M6 at Chelmsley Wood) is cared for by Project Kingfisher. The Project Kingfisher Ranger Service runs public walks and events as well as membership organisations. One of these, the Cole Valley Conservation Volunteers, carries out conservation work in the Cole Valley. Further details from 0121 749 3131 or from Shard End Community Centre, Packington Avenue.
The Park Ranger Service has set up a group aiming to help children and their families to understand and enjoy the countryside more. The group will meet monthly on Saturday at 10.15 am outside the Kingsbury Water Park Visitors Centre (situated at the main entrance). It will end at 12.30 pm with a fee of 20p.
