HomePlanet – local environment radio show makes positive start!

As reported in the previous Action Briefing, Unity FM is a new community radio station broadcasting on 93.5 FM.  Since the ‘taster’ environment radio show at the end of September, it has been moved to a more popular slot “due to popular demand”: now Wednesday from 6pm to 7pm.

So far we’ve discussed amongst others: food & environment with BVV (Birmingham Vegetarians and Vegans); Shades of Black from Handsworth; Islam & environment; conservation efforts in Jordan and sharing information on local events. In the pipeline are, amongst others: EcoPeace by FoE Middle-East; Baha’i faith & environment; human rights & environment (with guests from South Africa & Ireland); Selly Oak Church’s ‘green machine’; progress of Birmingham’s own EcoTeam, sponsored by GlobalActionPlan; and the super example of Swanshurst School of how to green your school.

If you know of any relevant group or event that deserves to be highlighted, of any individual who could inspire the community to become ‘greener’, or you wish to get involved more actively in the programme-making then please get in touch with me.
