Vernon has sold his prophets into future shorts and his "Next Months News" goes longer into the future:
"I had this dream. I had this dream. Humans Being are extinct. Humans Racing survive, high in the hills. The I's are there but their eyes are sore because their ice caps have melted. The sun swelters and the seas soar.
The economy feeds off the dying environment. Pure water is money and salted water flows, like money in a well oiled economy, around the barren land that is left.
If raindrops keep falling the economy is fed. If the sky is clear, the water is dear. Every cloud has a silver lining that the money lenders collect in barrels. They roll out the barrels to quench the capitalists thirst. Little is done because the workers are gone.
In this future where is heaven on earth? It is where the earth is and vegetation grows.
To be or not to be that is the question.
The answer is nobler than the slings and arrows that create fortunes and enterprises of great pitch and moment. Conscience should make cowards of us all. It must give us pause and lose the name of action. To die, to sleep, perchance to dream."
