Kyoto - 100 Days.......and counting!

The Kyoto Climate Summit is fast approaching and Friends of the Earth have been working hard to expose the climate villains. On the 13th of August around a dozen of us descended on a Shell petrol station to protest against their membership of the GCC.

The GCC is the Global Climate Coalition, a lobbying group that tells governments to take it easy and not worry about all that global warming nonsense. We were accompanied by a 10 ft high 'Shell demon', also known as Vernon, and got coverage on local radio and television. This was part of a successful tour which received good local attention wherever it went.

On Saturday 23rd of August a new campaigning network was formed. The aim of '100 DAYS' is to link all the groups campaigning against the oil industry in the last hundred days before the Kyoto Summit (1st - 12th December). Details are printed below if you want to receive the newsletter.

THREE THINGS YOU CAN DO BEFORE KYOTO

  1. Sign the Clinton / Blair postcard enclosed with this newsletter. The aim is to let them know that it is not just the fossil fuel lobby who have an interest in the outcome of the talks.
  2. Fill in the form below and send off for the Climate Fact Pact. This will tell you more about climate change and how you can become a Climate Citizen.
  3. Fill in the Climate Challenge form that comes with your fact pack. This asks your Regional Electricity Companies to continue supplying renewable energy when the subsidy ends next year.
