Speaker Evenings
Many Friends of the Earth local groups across the country have regular guest speakers on hot environmental topics. Having a speaker (or perhaps a film) with food, drinks and discussion is a great way to find out more about a subject and meet other people who are interested in the environment.
As an experiment, were running a series of 'Speaker Evenings' at the Warehouse, first Monday of the month, starting 1st November 2004. We hope that many supporters will be able to come along, and that these events will become a regular fixture in our calendar.
We are delighted to welcome Ayman Ahwal as our first speaker. Ayman will tell us about his first hand experience of Malaysia's Belum rainforest and the pioneering work of the Belum Rainforest Project. On Mon 6th December Dr David Toke will be extolling the virtues of community wind power.
We look forward to seeing you on 1st November and 6th December when we will be meeting in the Warehouse Cafe, 54-57 Allison Street, Digbeth, at 7.30pm for food, drink and friendly chat. All welcome.
Meet up, save
the planet!
Would you like to meet up
with other people interested in environmental issues, but find our Monday night
meetings inconvenient? Do you have free time during the day, or would like to
join with other parents in an after-school meeting?
At Friends of the Earth's Local Groups Conference this year, I spoke with several groups who have an evening meeting, a daytime meeting and an extra after-school meeting, to make it easier for a variety of people to get involved in campaigning. If you are interested in this, please contact me via the Warehouse (0121 632 6909).
