International Buy Nothing Day

We used to have one of these every week, called Sunday, which religious or not
was one great way to banish consumerism for a brief period of time each week.
To be fair it's not just the modern obsession with shopping but new work and
living patterns that render this difficult: but perhaps on just one day each
year we can reintroduce it.
Don't go shopping on Buy Nothing Day this year! (Er, except possibly at the Moseley
Farmers Market, which rather unfortunately clashes...)
