Warehouse News

The Warehouse is not the place to be at the moment if you like the quiet life! (Is it ever? -Ed) We have a few challenges for the right people. But first, we need a vacuum cleaner as ours has disappeared! Do you have a spare one? Can we have it? (or do you know where the original one disappeared to under suspicious circumstances one night in early July? Someone somewhere knows! - Shaw Taylor)

The Warehouse Cafe has changed its opening hours - Monday to Friday, 12pm - 2.30pm and 5.30pm - 9pm. Saturday remains unchanged, 12pm - 9pm. They are now open every Sunday for lunch 12pm - 3pm. Any enquiries/bookings should be made on (0121) 633 0261.

We are currently updating the membership system so that you, the member, can take advantage of the discounts offered by Friends of the Earth (Birmingham) and the Warehouse Cafe. You will receive a new membership card in early 1999, but in the meantime members should find a temporary voucher, enclosed with this newsletter, that you can use to claim 10% off goods in the Warehouse Reception - including hemp products (see centre pages), recycled paper products and FOE merchandise. Discounts can only be claimed from the Cafe and Reception on production of your card and can only be used by the named holder (or family member if you have a family membership). If you are a member and your card is not enclosed, please contact FOE Reception. A membership form is printed on the inside of the back cover, for those of you who are not members and wish to become one.

Now a challenge, and I know how much you like them! We are aware of the need to re-design our Reception area. Are you the person to do it? You will of course have to follow a number of criteria’s, for example, you won’t be able to build with tropical hardwood! We aim to promote further ecological products which would call for a look at the space and how we can use it more effectively. If you have a skill that could be put to good use (interior designer, carpenter, artist, painter, etc etc) and you are interested in discussing this further, please give Dave Clare or myself a call at the Warehouse.
