Friends of the Earth Birmingham Action Briefing Aug-Sept 97 |
This year has been a roaring success. We have received 25 requests for talks. We have done a variety of presentations and workshops. The focus recently has been with schools and explaining how to reduce the rubbish we produce. A lot of fun has been had and the children have been very supportive and involved in the ideas we have explored.
Although we have received 25 requests for talks we have, unfortunately, only been able to do 11 of them, in part due to volunteer availability. This saddens me as we have been using them as a source of fundraising as well as for outreach and education in environmental issues. As a result this is a plea for new volunteers to help. You could join with others in giving presentations or workshops and I can guarantee that once the nerves have gone you can enjoy yourself and get a lot of positive feedback. If you are interested please contact me on (0121)-778-6553 (evenings only) and I will be delighted to answer all your questions. So please if you feel committed to the idea of spreading the word, contact me.
As a further request, does anyone want to take on the post of Talks Co-ordinator? Fields anew away from Birmingham are now calling me. Calls on your time are few and you'll get to meet some very interesting people. This is an organising role and you do not have to do any of the presentations/workshops if that's not your cup of tea.
Please call me.
