Everything you ever wanted to know about public transport (but were afraid to ask)

Centro have launched an on-line ‘Beginner’s Guide to Public Transport’, after a national survey revealed that regular drivers in the West Midlands are the least clued up about the public transport routes between their home and work.

One in ten car commuters questioned in an opinion poll conducted for the TravelWise campaign said they would struggle to find alternative means of travel. But according to the National Travel Survey, nearly all the households in England's larger urban areas are within a 13-minute walk of a bus service that runs at least once an hour; in rural areas around 47 per cent of households are in the same position.

The guide at www.centro.org.uk/beginner includes maps, timetables, and a journey planner where commuters can plot the best route by typing in their home and destination address or postcode. The site also covers how to pay for a ticket and the range of travel cards available.
