Baku-Ceyhan and Corporates action planned

BP has applied for $1.5 billion of what it calls "free public money" from the European Bank for Construction and Development (EBCD) and the World Bank to fund its environmentally and socially destructive Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan project, a huge oil pipeline running from the Caspian oilfields through Georgia to the Turkish Mediterranean coast.

Meanwhile, the Corporate Responsibility (CORE) Coalition is pushing for a Corporate Responsibility Bill to set binding rules for companies in order to protect people's rights and the environment.

Together with Stratford Friends of the Earth, we are planning a joint action to draw attention to both these issues, by targeting Amec in Stratford and holding a public meeting to debate the issues and gather public support for the CORE Bill. Details have yet to be confirmed but if you're interested in coming along and/or helping out then call James or Mick on 0121 632 6909 or email us.
