Birmingham Friends of the Earth Action Briefing June /July 1999 |
The city council collects paper from 67,000 households in Birmingham. Every year they have to distribute leaflets informing the households of the date of the collection. This year Birmingham Friends of the Earth delivered 24,000 of these leaflets. In return we received £400 and an A5 advert on the back of all 67,000 leaflets. Obviously delivering 24,000 leaflets is hard work, time consuming and energy draining. So we must thank the weather-beaten, blistered band of volunteers who successfully completed the job. Thank you to Jenny Cobb, Neal Statham, George Sawyer, Collette Cross, Malte Plath, Karen Leach, Anna von Spear and John Fenn. Next year we may distribute all 67,000, so anyone interested in helping please let us know.
