24 hours for trade justice

Last June, 12,000 people, including activists from Birmingham, made their way to Westminster to tell UK Members of Parliament that current trade rules exploit poor people and the resources of our planet and that this must change. MPs are still talking about this event, the UK’s largest mass lobby ever, but the problems with world trade haven’t gone away, so campaigners for trade justice have to come together again.

Supporters of the 60 plus organisations (like Friends of the Earth, World Development Movement and Oxfam) that work together as the Trade Justice Movement are being asked to lobby their MP in their constituency this year over the 24 hours from noon 27th June to noon 28th June.

The ’24 hours for trade justice’ will climax with events around the country on the saturday morning. In Birmingham there will be ‘unfayre’ themed stalls, music, speakers and a “mass weigh-in” for trade justice at 12.00 noon!

Anyone who can help out with a Birmingham Friends of the Earth stall at this event please contact Jenny on 0121 632 6909. Visit www.tradejusticemovement.org.uk for more info.
