In Birmingham 2011...
...Will playing fields be changed into car parks? Will canals have been filled
in? What will local shopping centres be like?
Last June we responded to the city council's draft Unitary Development Plan. This document will help define the use of every piece of land in Birmingham - what can be built and where. This makes it very important in shaping our city. The council have altered their previous draft in light of comments, and the second stage in the process, the "deposit", has now begun. During this stage, you can object to policies and proposals in the plan or make suggestions for things to be added. It is also important to support good policies, as others may write in and criticise them.
The new report, and a summary of the comment received can be downloaded from the Council website:
http://www.birmingham.gov.uk
A printed copy can be examined at:
* our building, the Warehouse
* the council planning department, in Alpha Tower, Suffolk Street Queensway
* all neighbourhood offices and libraries
All comments must be received by the council by the 29th of June 2001.
