Birmingham Friends of the Earth Action Briefing April /May 1999 |
Each year, Friends of the Earth (Birmingham) take a team of 70ish happy people down to the Glastonbury Festival for a week of freedom, sunshine(!) music and other performing arts. This year you could be one of them. The Glastonbury Festival is the biggest source of income for our campaigns department, raising around £4,000 per year.
If you would like to join us, you will need:
So, what do you have to do? Well, we run a number of the property lock-ups, which are places where people can leave their belongings in a safe and secure environment without fear of them being stolen. Your commitment will be to staff these lock-ups, in teams of 3 or 4, for no more than 24 hours over the 6 days. The hours are usually split shifts with a supervisor in case of any problems.
That's it! You get to go to the biggest and best contemporary performing arts festival in Europe, free, and by doing so, you will be raising vital campaigning money for Friends of the Earth (Birmingham): life is so hard!
If you are interested, please drop me a line (leave your name, address, telephone number and e-mail if you have one (cut the paper use)) at the Warehouse or via my email below, and I'll send you some details.
