Eating Greens

Thursday 20th March (as well as being the day when George Dubya started bombing Iraq and the UK joined in) saw an unruly crowd of hungry environmentalists descend on Mokhams of Digbeth for the Green Balti.

After rearranging numbers and booking times around the anti-war demo in Victoria Square, about twenty of us spent a pleasant evening with the usual high standard of food and conversation.

The Green Balti is a great way to meet like-minded people in an informal setting, and of course to sample the wares of various balti and ale houses around the city.

Thursday’s effort was the first in a while, and we'd like to have them more often and with a broader range of people. Coming from the person who has organised the last few baltis, you may have guessed that this is a plea to be relieved of the duty. They don’t take much effort, just select your restaurant and date, then make a couple of emails or phone calls. The best thing about sharing this job is that different people come along every time - the main purpose of the whole exercise.

Rant over, thanks to everyone who came along (in spite of the day’s events) for making it such a great evening. I look forward to being invited to the next one very soon!
