Thank you to everyone who wrote with advice on my proposed Portugal trip! (ie
whether or not I should fly). I got mixed advice, including an email from Australia,
from ex-Birmingham FOE campaigner Beverley, beginning "I know it might be a bit
difficult for me to respond reasonably seeing as I flew to Australia... but I
think that Vernon shouldn't have gone away in the first place if it makes others
follow, however if anyone wants to visit me in beautiful Western Australia..." and
finally suggesting "How about video conferencing? With a beer whilst pretending
you're at the pub together?" So there's a possibility!
What I should probably do is go to one of these websites that tell you your "ecological
footprint" such as www.lead.org/leadnet/footprint/intro.htm and www.peopleandplanet.org/footprints/score.htm.
to find out whether I can justify it to myself. When I get back from holiday,
that is.
