National campaigners coming to the West Midlands
A number of events are taking place in the region in the next few months. The Slower Speeds Initiative will be in Birmingham on 25th March. The seminar is for people involved with the challenge of curbing speeding on rural roads in the West Midlands region.
Traffic speed is a problem everywhere, but getting it under control in rural areas poses particular problems; setting and signing speed limits while protecting countryside character, getting the right mix of engineering, education and enforcement and getting the right balance between different road users. In order to explore these issues more closely, the Initiative, in association with
Transport 2000's Rural Transport Partnership, funded by the Countryside Agency, has been holding a series of regional seminars to bring together key players from the relevant sectors. In this West Midlands seminar we will be considering the role of community involvement in initiating and implementing improvements in speed management. In addition, we will be looking at wider and longer term objectives of speed management.
National campaign training days on Waste and Energy will be taking place in Birmingham on 13th March and 3rd April respectively. If you have not had details on any of these events get in touch with Chris here in Birmingham on 0121 643 9117 for more details.
