News from the Border
Oswestry FOE in Shropshire on the Welsh border are getting stuck into a number
of local campaigns and wrote to me in December. These include a GM trial of winter
oil seed rape on a farm near Ellesmere which is threatening local organic market
gardeners and bee keepers, a proposed 52 000 tonne per annum waste incinerator
in Wrexham and Oswestry Borough Councils for waste management. They have also
been supporting the Real Food campaign and had a high profile Esso action on
the A5 receiving strong local coverage. The group cover a huge geographical and
rural area in what is an attractive part of the West Midlands and seems often
a long way from the traffic of the conurbation. Many thanks for your letter Phillipa
and keep the info flowing so we can all share our news with the wider network.
