Planning
A Green Paper on the planning system was launced in December. This is a full
frontal attack on the planning process by Digby Jones and his friends at the
CBI. We are taking forward a planning campaign to defend what we have got in
the current system as well as demand a thrid party right of appeal. There is
an Early Day Motion (EDM 291) which you can lobby your MP to sign. The text of
the EDM is "That this House recognises that the planning system is a sophisticated
and radical instrument of environmental regulation and is vitally important not
only in respect of land use but also the operation of local democracy and delivery
of sustainable environmental change; believes that democracy and equity should
be at the heart of the Government's current reform agenda; and calls for community
planning to be incorporated into the statutory planning system and for the introduction
of a qualified third party right of appeal."
Please try and ensure that your MP signs up to this EDM.
