Heart of Wales Line Guide

Book Review

The Railway Line to which this guide refers, Shrewsbury to Swansea, is a true jewel of Wales.   The guide, however, fails to wax lyrical about the scenery and the shear fun of travelling on this low-speed line.   I was on a journey when a corgi rushed out of a farmyard and raced along beside the train- and kept up for a couple of minutes.   With a good map and stamina, the intriguing paths leading away from just about every one of the small stations are yours for the taking.   The Guide can offer more information to the journey by explaining some of those mysterious embankments curving away from this remarkable railway: only one of them is Offa's Dyke.   The Guide also has the Inns and public houses listed with food and accommodation availability and telephone numbers.   Published by volunteers but looking most professional, the Guide (published 1999) is for sale from:
