A Truly Sustainable Conference

Centres for CHANGE, the national network promoting social, economic and environmental sustainability through resource centres across the UK is holding it's Annual Conference at Green & Away, from 13th - 16th July this year.

The Green & Away camp claims to be the only environmentally sound outdoor conference centre in the UK, if not the world, providing a showcase for sustainable living.   Based at an organic farm in Gloucestershire, participants sleep in tents, eat organic food and have hot showers run by wood-burning stoves and solar panels.

This year's Centres for CHANGE conference will be for up to 100 people.   It is open to all community centres and individuals who would like to know more about bringing sustainable practices into their workplace and to the people who use their centres.   The Conference will draw upon the practical skills of resource centres with expertise in sustainability.

There are now over 18, 000 community resource centres across the UK.   Centres for CHANGE offers free membership to those who wish to focus on sustainability issues.   This can mean information provision, community action, the natural environment, sustainable building practice or alternative technology.   The common thread which unites all of these centres is the recognition that there needs to be a sustainable balance between economic, social and environmental interests.
