Planning Permission Granted / Supermarket certain to open

Yardley
Tesco

Hodge HillTesco  Planning permission given.
Stirchley Tesco  Planning permission given.  Possibility of an appeal.  This development is of huge threat to the Co-operative’s flagship store in the area.
Hall GreenTesco  Opening an Express store near to Robin Hood Island.  Clearly supermarkets are far from complementing the High St but taking over it.
Chelmsley Wood ASDA   Being built as part of the town centre’s redevelopment.
Attwood Green/ Lea Bank  ? New development – Supermarket to be built.  Current wranglings about whether ASDA or Tesco to be given the green light.
SheldonALDI Granted planning permission for a development in the middle of the A45 Coventry Road.
Kings HeathTesco  Alcester Lanes End - Tesco Express to open soon.
Hagley Road Tesco  Tesco Express to open soon (between Norfolk Road junction, before Bearwood).

The City’s plan for the area’s redevelopment includes a new supermarket.
Harborne Road?
Outline planning permission given for supermarket near to Five Ways Island as part of the huge Edgbaston Galleries development.

Possible future stores

Quinton
Netto
Keen to build. Quinton Labour Party campaigning against it, although they worked to encourage Tesco to the ward.  Edgars Greengrocers (Hampton Court Road) are closing down due to ‘supermarket competition’.
Eastside?
Proposal for supermarket as part of Masshouse Development in Eastside.  No plans yet submitted.
Spring Hill Tesco
Icknield Street.  Land owned by Tesco – status unknown.
