Birmingham Friends of the Earth has an Action Group working on Energy. We want to get more energy coming from "renewables"; wind, sun, ground heat, or from waste, which are low or zero carbon.
Other European countries are far ahead of us on using them. In the home, 80% cuts in energy use are possible, according to a study for Friends of the Earth called 'Home Truths'  www.foe.co.uk/campaigns/climate/news/green_homes_home_truths.html

Advice on cutting your energy use is available from the Energy Savings Trust www.energysavingtrust.org.uk

You can keep track of how you are doing with the Carbon Account website www.thecarbonaccount.com

Good Energy offers to buy your electricity only from renewable sources www.good-energy.co.uk

We try to show that 'low carbon living' is both possible and attractive. Here, in Allison Street, we have Sprocket cycle shop, and The Warehouse vegetarian cafe and the One Earth shop (Birmingham's only vegan shop). Plenty more information on low carbon living is available at Friends of the Earth.
