Telecommuncations Masts in Birmingham

Those controversial telecommunications masts have been in the news a lot lately, with local communities demanding more research into the possible links between masts and illness.

There are many issues concerning telecommunications masts, including thermal and possible non-thermal effects of radiation, both from individual masts and possibly from the cumulative effect of clusters of masts in one area, visual amenity, and proximity to schools, hospitals and residential areas.

Although the City Council has granted many applications for telecomms masts in recent years, local residents' groups have enjoyed considerable success in opposing mast applications and effectively engaging in the local planning process.
