A Reply From The Halifax

Dear FOE

I refer to your message this morning concerning the Halifax's possible funding for the Birmingham Northern Relief Road.

The BNNR was subject to the longest public enquiry in the history of British road building which ultimately recommended, very firmly, that the project should proceed. It has been backed and is supported by the present Government, as well as its predecessor and is a regional and national transport priority.

The decision as to who will provide the finance has not yet been taken.
