About the Conference

The Birmingham Multi-Faith Conference took place on 4th June 2006. It was organised to enable faith groups across the West Midlands to meet and agree how they can work together on a long term basis to tackle climate change. Over 100 representatives from across the region spent the day working towards the achievement of the conference's four objectives.

  • To issue a Multi-Faith Declaration on Climate Change that will form an appendix to the Birmingham Climate Change Strategy.

  • To mobilise faith communities to take action on climate change, at a personal, community, national or international level.

  • To initiate an Action Network of members of Birmingham faith communities committed to further action on climate change.

  • To explore how different faith groups view environmental issues.

Attendees unanimously considered the conference to be a great success.
